JAY – Four people were sent to the hospital today following a head-on crash just after noon on the Crash Road.

According to Police Chief Larry White, Sr., Louise Tardif, 63, of Jay, was eastbound when the 2002 Toyota Camry she was driving “crossed over the center line,” White said, and collided head on with a 2004 Dodge Caravan operated by Heidi Tolman, 41, of New Portland.

Passengers riding in Tolman’s minivan were Laurie Agran, 47 of New Portland, and her 9-month-old son. All three adults complained of neck and chest pain following the crash.

All four people were transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar Emergency medical Services. Agran and her son had been released, according to the hospital’s spokeswoman, while Tardif and Tolman were still being evaluated late this afternoon.

Assisting at the scene were Jay Fire Department and three NorthStar ambulances.
Both vehicles are believed to be a total loss and were towed from the scene by Hilltop Collision Center.

The accident remains under investigation by Jay Police Department Detective Richard Caton. White and Officer Nick Gulliver also assisted at the scene.
