Hundreds of helping hands: More than 5,440 pounds of food donated

Blue High School students and members and friends of the Franklin County Retired Teachers’ Association sort and box up the donations. Mallett and Cascade Brook School students walked to the Farmington Community Center carrying their classrooms’ donations for the 19th annual Helping Hands Project. When it was all collected, over 5,440 pounds of food was donated. according to Pauline Rodrigue, the district’s volunteer coordinator. “In the seven years I’ve worked with the Helping Hands Project, this is the second highest amount we’ve collected,” she said.  


W.G. Mallett School students walk to the Farmington Community Center on Middle Street to drop off their donations to the Care & Share Food Closet this morning. Retired teachers and friends who helped to sort the food and students from Mt. Blue High School who helped load the food onto the truck, and unload at the Food Pantry. Those students who worked are: Christian Richards, Matty Buzzell, Chad Dubay, Devin Wright, Craig Haines, and Nina Lake.
