AUBURN – Maine Machine Products Company (MMPCo) of South Paris was recently awarded a seed grant from the Maine Technology Institute (MTI). This grant was among those awarded by the MTI for companies to develop products that will advance Maine’s innovation economy. These grants will leverage over $310,000 in private matching funds to support new R&D and business plans that will lead to increased economic opportunities statewide.

MMPCo President/CEO David MacMahon presents a check to President Scott Knapp of CMCC to cover costs of the College’s assistance in a grant-funded effort in prototype development and testing of oil and gas measuring tools.

Companies funded by MTI bring new products and services to the U.S. and global markets and create higher paying jobs at a faster rate than the average Maine company. The seed grant awarded to MMPCo is supporting prototype development and testing for down-hole oil and gas measuring tools manufactured from exotic materials including Titanium, Inconel and K-500 Monel.

Students in the Machine Tool Technology program at Central Maine Community College are participating in this effort by assisting in the design and machining of some of the experimental parts, including an installation tool for a piston seal.

MMPCo. is a world class manufacturer of custom precision components and assemblies. Founded in 1956 by Roland Sutton, MMPCo operates in a 75,000 square foot facility in South Paris. Utilizing highly engineered state-of-the-art facilities and skilled associates, the company provides complete manufacturing services from concept support through production.
