Farmington Emblem Club meets, discusses community events

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Emblem Club meeting began with the opening ritual of stationing the Flags of the United States of America. The National Anthem was sung and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Chaplain Claudette Merchant opened in prayer.

Prior to the meeting of Farmington Emblem Club a potluck meal was enjoyed by all.

Twenty four members were present.

An Easter Bake Sale will be held behind Weber Insurance on Saturday April 3.

The Americanism reading was “Sack Lunches.” We will try to do a parade for the Blueberry Festival in August.

Community Service chairman Candace Clark reported that members helped at the Animal Shelter, at church, attended meeting for Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Chamber of Commerce, and worked on the Blueberry Festival.

Literacy Chairman Diana Oliver reported reading for Day Care, and volunteer at the library. Books are needed for the Literacy book sale.

Lois Barker Scholarship chairman read a letter from Mabel Cox’s granddaughter with an update on how she is doing at college.

The Valentine’s Dance was very well attended. Everyone had a good time.

The Farmington Emblem Club will host a Blood Drive on March 27 at the Nichol’s Building.

Farmington Emblem Club #460 will host the meeting the the Maine State Association of Emblem Club at the Farmington Elks Lodge on March 28.

The Farmington Elks will have Installation of Officers on Friday night, March 26.

This month’s raffle winners were Mystery gift Judy Lane, 50/50 Annette Pound and the Pot of Gold Lena Searles absent.

The next meeting will be April 1 at which time the Past Presidents of the Club will be honored.
