Farmington Emblem Club’s next meeting is Feb. 3

FARMINGTON – Prior to the January meeting of Farmington Emblem Club, a dinner to honor this year’s scholarship recipients was held. The meal consisted of lasagna, salads, rolls,and a cake made by Megan Norster. Checks were presented to the parents of most of the students because the students had gone back to school. Students receiving scholarships this year are Abigail Pillsbury, Ryan Richards, Abigail Davis and Ryan Richards.

The meeting began with formal entry. The Flags of the United States were stationed at the altar, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem. Connie Small opened in prayer.

Americanism chairman Nancy Chase reported on her trip to Arlington, VA as a volunteer with “Wreaths Across America”. Over 220,000 wreaths were place across America, with 24,000 of these being placed in Arlington alone. There were six tractor trailer loads that left Harrington, Maine on December 5, 2010.
Community Service chairman Candace Clark reported that members had donated to the food pantry, worked and or helped at the animal shelter, FMH Auxiliary, Blueberry Festival, Chamber of Commerce, church and decorating a Rotary Tree. Some members also visited at the Edgewood Manor.

Literacy Chairman Dina Oliver reported reading at day care, attending a board meeting and making bookmarks. Scholarship chairman Lois Barker announced that the State Scholarship forms are available. She also thanked those who helped with the meal for the evening.

Shannon Smith announced that tickets fro the Valentine Dance are available at Mooseville or by calling her at 778-4726. The dance will be at the Farmington Elks Lodge on February 12. Musics by the Legends. Raffle winners were Pot of Gold Lena Searles, Mystery Gift Shannon Smith and 50/50 Cheryl Deshaies.

The next meeting will be February 3rd.
