FARMINGTON – The Gold LEAF Institute Senior College invites you to its Summer Term Kick-off and Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 29 at 3 P.M. in the North Dining Hall at the UMF Student Center on 111 South Street. Come join us and meet the presenters and your neighbors who are Gold LEAF members. Anyone 50 or older who is interested in learning about Gold LEAF is welcome to attend.

One of the things that distinguishes the Gold LEAF Institute is the wide variety of experiences that we offer our members. For the scholarly and serious-minded among us, we offer in-depth classes in science, history, political science, music, art and literature. Our book group reads award-winning fiction and non-fiction. Our opera classes are especially popular. To complement these, our members enjoy workshops involving Tai Chi, Self-defense, crafts, hobbies, and needlecraft. Since we are surrounded by lakes, rivers, foothills, hiking trails and nature preserves our outdoor activities are well-subscribed.

Our kayaking group, 20 to 25 strong, enjoys traveling to local rivers, pond and lakes, enjoying not only the exercise, but the opportunities to observe nature up close in a quiet “glide by” way.
