KINGFIELD – Kingfield POPS invites community members to join celebrity guest Suzanne Nance, Bangor Symphony Orchestra executive director David Whitehill, and POPS sponsors, patrons and board members at a happy-hour party at the Herbert Hotel in Kingfield on Friday, May 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The reception is an opportunity to meet Suzanne Nance, the guest soloist who will be performing with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra at the 2010 Kingfield POPS concert on June 27. Well known to Mainers as the producer and host of the weekday morning Maine Public Broadcasting Network (MPBN) classical music program from 9 a.m. to noon, she is also a singer and actor and has won honors and awards for her performances in Prague, London, Philadelphia, Chicago, New York and Bangor and Portland.  Suzanne has performed on PBS and NPR and has made a guest appearance on Good Morning America. She is the music director for Maine Public Broadcasting Network (MPBN) and has interviewed artists such as soprano Jessye Norman, poet Mark Strand and violinists Hilary Hahn and Joshua Bell. She’s also smart, funny, charming and interesting.

Guests at the reception will be eligible for a drawing to win a wine basket with wine, tablecloth, napkins, bottle opener, glasses, glass charms and a pair of POPS tickets – all the makings of a special evening at the POPS concert! POPS tickets will also be on sale with a special value-added package for Mother’s Day: with a purchase of two POPS tickets ($40), guests will receive vouchers for special offers from the Orange Cat Café, Scent-sations, and Daisy-A-Day packaged as a Mother’s Day gift. This offer is available only at the party at the Herbert Hotel on Friday between 5 and 7 p.m.

Kingfield POPS is providing complimentary hors d’oeuvres for the party and the Herbert Hotel’s cash bar will be open. Join us for good company and good cheer; while you’re there, enter the drawing for the special gift, and take advantage of local discounts and savings with the purchase of a pair of tickets. And bring your mom: everyone is welcome.
