FARMINGTON – Rispah Huff of Strong, and Carolyn Balsam of Industry, were recognized recently as outstanding volunteers of the year for LEAP, Inc (Life Enrichment Advancing People) at a special luncheon, honoring all LEAP volunteers held at the Olsen Student Center on the campus of the University of Maine at Farmington.

LEAP Executive Director Rick Dorian recognizes Rispah Huff of Strong, as an Outstanding Volunteer of the Year at a special luncheon. She shared the honor with Carolyn Balsam of Industry.

Huff was honored for starting and hosting monthly game days and community dances for more than a year. Balsam was honored for her many years of service to LEAP, Inc as both a board member and volunteer as well as for her valued fundraising efforts. Both women were presented with certificates and bouquets by LEAP executive director, Rick Dorian.

Huff and Balsam are two of the more than 35 volunteers who donated more than 1,000 hours of service to the LEAP, Inc, Dorian said. Whether a LEAP volunteer helped for a single day or came in each week, the cumulative value of those contributions were invaluable, he added.

“As the economy has worsened, people have really pulled together to help one another,”

said LEAP treasurer and board member, Sherra Osgood, who was also recognized for her volunteer work. LEAP is continually seeking volunteer support for a variety of projects. Please contact Rick Dorian if you would like to volunteer at 778-3443 ext. 104.
