Karen Beacham and the Mt. Blue High School Jazz Band performed a medley of patriotic songs on Sunday at the Saddleback Base Lodge as part of the first-ever Saddleback Veteran’s Day.

Bagpiper Bob Underwood also performed in the moving ceremony to honor veterans of the U.S. Military and the “Blue Star Families” who have made sacrifices as a family member has gone off to defend our nation in the military. The day’s event also included a moving flag folding ceremony.

Warren Cook, CEO of Saddleback and himself a Marine who served during the Vietnam War, said that, “A free day of skiing is the least we can do for these men and women’s service to our country.”

Also in attendance was General Bill Libby of the Maine Army National Guard. (Nancy Marshall/Saddleback Photos)
