SALEM – It has been a busy fall for the Leo’s, the youth organization of the Lions Club, planning fundraisers, volunteering and gathering goodies for our cause.

Recently the Leos attended a meeting with the three other Leo clubs and advisers of Maine at Camp Sunshine in Casco. We have planned a “lock in” for April 4, 2009 to raise money for Camp Sunshine. All four clubs will participate at Camp Sunshine. An over night stay up!

We are getting Thanksgiving baskets together at the Economic Ministry and plan on helping at Christmas as well. We will be working at the White Elephant in Strong on Nov. 26 to wait on tables, serving Thanksgiving Dinner from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm.

Also some will be helping the Stratton- Eustis Lions Club serve there annual Senior Christmas dinner on Dec. 14 in Stratton. Leo’s will be set up at the Avon Craft Fair selling goodies, crafts, and Xmas trees. Possible Christmas carols will be sung.

The Leo’s have a collection box in the office at Mt Abram High School for items to help fire victims. Each month there’s something different we are collecting. This month is blankets. December, will be hats, mittens, and toiletries. These items are for bags being put together for fire stations to have on hand to help the families. Students should bring in items and can sign up in the office for a drawing to win something each month. So parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles or if your a friend of the Leo’s if you can find it in your heart to donate, send it to Mt Abram with your student.

The Leos meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at Mt Abram High School at 2:45 p.m.
