FARMINGTON – Maine Project Learning Tree (PLT) is offering two-part training for area educators, preservice teachers, community leaders, and natural resource professionals on May 5 and May 12. Learn how to connect the outdoors with PLT activities and GPS units led by PLT facilitators Rob Taylor, Jay Schools, and Patty Cormier, Maine Forest Service. This session builds on a recent “Mapping Your Footsteps” workshop held in Farmington.
Explore the 2011 Project Learning Tree PreK-8 Activity Guide and the Places We Live curriculum which are aligned with state and national standards in all content areas. Learn how a community can support classroom practices. Both sessions will run from 3:30 to 6:30 and meet in the Allen Conference Room at the Franklin Memorial Hospital. The $35/professional and $25/student workshop fee covers the cost of two PLT guides, snacks and time to share with colleagues.
Project Learning Tree is an internationally recognized environmental education program. Through hands-on, interdisciplinary activities, PLT provides students in grades PreK-12 with opportunities to investigate environmental issues and encourages them to make informed, responsible decisions. Maine PLT is an education program of the Maine Tree Foundation and the American Forest Foundation.
