Toys donated in memory of Matteo Hanson

FARMINGTON – Toys for Matteo has just received and donated toys for the first annual toy drive in memory of Matteo Hanson. Matteo was 17 months old when he was killed last year in an act of domestic violence. The toy drive, organized by Matteos mother Brandy Swett, collaborated with Mt. Blue High School and Foster Regional Applied Technology Center students to collect toys which were delivered to the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project on Nov. 29, 2009, the one year anniversary of Matteo’s death.

The toys were donated by students, staff, and friends and family members of Brandy Swett.

Jessica Dorr, community educator and Rebecca LaRovera, outreach advocate from the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project, received donations from Toys for Matteo to give to children who have been victims of domestic violence and are temporarily place in shelter. AWAP is the domestic violence project that covers Franklin, Oxford and Androscoggin counties, their 24-hour Helpline number in 1-800-559-2927, to reach someone in Franklin County the outreach office number is 778-6107.
