UMF winter term courses open for general public registration now

FARMINGTON – Registration for University of Maine at Farmington 2009 Winter Term courses will be open to members of the public not currently enrolled in a UMF program, until Dec. 29. As a public institution, UMF is committed to providing quality educational opportunities to both full-time students and members of the public pursuing personal and professional interests at their own pace.

UMF’s 2009 Winter Term courses are available in the arts, business, humanities, education, the sciences, and more. Some interesting courses include: Drawing, Social and Political Theater (classroom courses); The Politics of Germany and Italy, Survive/Thrive Human Services Professional (online courses); Tropical Island Ecology, Environmental Writing in Costa Rica (travel courses to the Virgin Islands and Costa Rica).

To find complete course listings online, go to www.umf.maine.edu. Click on “Not a student?” in the lower right-hand corner. Select the “Take One Course” option; click on the “Winter 2009” tab; and select a subject to see the courses offered. Members of the public can communicate their interest in any Winter Term courses online by adding them to the online bookbag. They will then be contacted by a representative from the UMF Merrill Center.

Individuals may also register in person between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Merrill Center in UMF’s Merrill Hall, 224 Main St., Farmington. Winter Term courses run from Dec. 28, 2009 – Jan. 15, 2010. Course registration is available on a first-come-first-served basis.
