WILTON – At the Feb 10 meeting, we welcomed Barbara Hathaway, president of the state and Franklin County Homemakers’ Extension. We had eight members and four guests. We welcomed Ann Story as a new member. We talked about making afghans or pot holders for community service project for our group because February is Heart Health Month.

Barbara spoke of up coming events: treasure chest for new members, cruise on July 13th for homemakers, and other information to help our group. Caroline Mayo, president of the East Wilton Homemakers Extension gave a brief speech. We all signed a card for the family of Nelda Doak.

For our program, “Getting To Know Your Town,” we had Rhonda Irish, Wilton’s town manager, speak about the town of Wilton. She told a little bit about herself and many upcoming items that will be happening in the town in the near future. Road work being one of them. The Third Thursday, and Blueberry Festival were also brought up as well as an update on the police department. She also spoke on the former tannery building and what was happening to that and the primary school.

We had a great potluck lunch with a pineapple upside down cake for dessert.

Our next meeting will be on March 10 at 10 a.m. at the Wilton Fire Station. The program will be Health and Safety in the Home. For more information please call Hazel Flagg at 645-2423 or e-mail Becky at idontknow63@hotmail.com
