FMH expands pulmonology specialty services

FARMINGTON – Franklin Memorial Hospital and Pulmonary Critical Care Associates in Lewiston have collaborated to bring additional monthly pulmonary specialty services to Farmington.

Neil Duval, MD, who specializes in pulmonary medicine, will see patients by appointment at Franklin Memorial Hospital beginning January 15. Subsequent services will be provided on March 26, April 30, May 28, June 11, June 25, July 23, and August 27. In time, Dr. Duval will see patients at the hospital on the second and fourth Friday of each month.

In addition to his duties at Franklin Memorial, Dr. Duval serves as the medical director of pulmonary rehabilitation and respiratory therapy at Central Maine Medical Center. Dr. Duval is board-certified in pulmonary medicine and internal medicine and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical examiners, as well as the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Duval received his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School.

Pulmonology or pulmonary medicine, treats issues related to the lungs or respiratory system. Because lung diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are so prevalent, an additional provider is necessary. Dr. Ralph Harder of Central Maine Pulmonary Associates in Lewiston already provides pulmonology at Franklin Memorial two days per month.

Dr. Duval’s professional interests include pulmonary rehabilitation, stent placement, transtracheal oxygen, asthma in pregnancy, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and sleep disorders.
