Health talk to discuss mindfulness and taking control Nov. 10

FARMINGTON – Registrations are now being accepted for the next “Prescriptions for Health” presentation titled “Getting a Grip: Taking Control of Your Thoughts, Feelings and Actions” featuring Dr. Arthur Dingley, a psychiatrist affiliated with Franklin Health Behavioral Services. The presentation is free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, Nov. 10, Dr. Dingley will introduce mindfulness. Participants will learn how thoughts determine feelings, as well as mindfulness skills that can be used to control thoughts, feelings, and behavior. The event will take place from 7-8:15 p.m. in the Bass Room and will include light refreshments. Additional resource material and information on local support groups will also be available.

According to Dr, Dingley, “Scientific studies have shown that mindfulness is very helpful to people coping with anxiety, depression, agitation, and other issues.”

This presentation is being held in collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Maine and NAMI Western Maine Peer Support Group.
