Hope Harvest Community Garden celebration

2 mins read

FARMINGTON – The Healthy Community Coalition invites residents to join garden volunteers, staff members of HCC, and the NorthStar Ambulance Services Bike Team for a Garden Celebration on Tuesday, July 15th from 5pm to 7pm. The celebration takes place at the Hope Harvest Community Garden, located on the grounds of Franklin Memorial Hospital. To get to the garden, enter the hospital main driveway, take the first left turn, then the next left turn to the Stanley Building.

Visit the garden in full bloom, learn about the volunteer opportunities and help needed at the garden and how you can help that day too. Tour HCC’s brand new Mobile Health Unit, have a blood pressure check and enjoy free healthy snacks. Meet North Star’s Bike Team to learn how to ride safely. They will have low cost bike helmets available for kids or bring your helmet to get a free fit check.

Hope Harvest Community Garden is a Healthy Community Coalition project relying on community volunteers, now in its fifth year of growing vegetables for food pantries in Franklin County. In the past four years over 5,600 pounds of vegetables went to area food pantries. The garden is very child and adult friendly. Volunteers don’t need to have any gardening experience. While at the Celebration, you will have an opportunity to see the garden and hopefully be able to help harvest vegetables.

HCC is a Healthy Maine Partnership and an affiliate of the Franklin Community Health Network.  Want to know more? Call 645-3136 or toll free at 1-800-525-3136.
