FARMINGTON – Franklin Community Health Network is pleased to announce that accountant Melanie Meader, FHFMA, CPA, recently became a Fellow from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

Fewer than 1,700 HFMA members nationwide have achieved this accomplishment, which is indicative of her personal commitment to excellence within the profession of healthcare financial management. “Melanie is the third person in the finance department to become a Fellow and others are working to earn that credential as well,” said Eric Martinsen, vice president of finance and chief financial officer. “This demonstrates the excellence that we strive for.”

To become an FHFMA (Fellow): one must be credentialed as a certified healthcare financial professional (CHFP); be an HFMA member for at least five years; complete a bachelor’s degree or 120 semester hours from an accredited college or university; volunteer in HFMA or the industry; and provide a reference from a Fellow in HFMA or current officer of the local chapter.

Meader is the current vice president of the Maine Chapter of HFMA and co-chair of the program committee. She also serves on the Maine Chapter’s membership and audit committees.

As controller at Franklin Community Health Network, Meader oversees the network’s financial affairs, particularly the accounting, reporting, and control functions. Meader has been employed at Franklin Community Health Network for five years and resides in Belgrade.
