Sports Medicine Clinic back in high gear

FARMINGTON – Franklin Health Orthopaedics sports medicine clinic will be back in high gear on August 18 with a full complement of health care providers lending a comprehensive approach to the treatment of sports-related injuries.

The weekly clinic is for individuals of all ages who suffer from a sports-related injury, elementary through college-age students, as well as adult recreational athletes. Appointments are made through physician and self-referral.

For faster access to appointments, the clinic day has switched to Wednesdays with appointments starting at 8:30 a.m.

Staffing the clinic is orthopedic surgeon Dr. Nancy Cummings, Franklin Health Orthopaedics medical director; and staff from the Physical Rehabilitation Department at Franklin Memorial Hospital including a licensed physical therapist and a certified athletic trainer.

Dr. Nancy Cummings received her medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, and completed a six-year orthopaedic surgeon residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Surgery Program in Boston. Dr. Cummings has completed clinical and research fellowships in sports medicine and orthopaedic research. Her professional interests include complex multiple ligament injuries of the knee and ACL injuries in the young female athlete.
