FARMINGTON – A 25-year-old man was arrested Friday and charged with illegal possession of oxycontin and growing marijuana.

On Friday night, Farmington police working with Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officers searched and reportedly found a pill bottle with 127 tablets of oxycontin, 48 small marijuana plants growing under fluorescent lights, hand written ledgers allegedly detailing illegal drug transactions and $2,000, according to MDEA supervisor Gerry Baril.

The homeowner at 168 Maple Avenue, Jonathan Galough, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, a felony, and cultivating marijuana.

Baril noted that while they were at the house, Galough’s cell phone was ringing repeatedly with text messages seeking “pharms,” a street term for diverted pharmaceutical drugs.

The estimated street value of the oxycontin found was $10,100, and the potential value of the marijuana plants was $36,000. Galough was taken to the Franklin County jail where bail was set at $10,000 cash.
