EUSTIS – Three adult males are believed by police to be involved in a marijuana growing operation at a camp on Brittany Road in Eustis which led to another stash of marijuana and mushrooms reportedly found in Auburn.

On Wednesday, Sgt. Steven Lowell and Deputy Kenneth Charles of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agent converged at the camp and allegedly discovered more than 50 immature marijuana plants growing at the camp. Another pound of recently harvested marijuana was also found, said Lt. Niles Yeaton of the Sheriff’s Department. Officers also located and seized two mature plants growing a short distance from the camp.

Police were tipped off by a resident who said that several subjects were growing and harvesting marijuana at the camp.

A 2005 Polaris all-terrain vehicle police believe was used to facilitate the growing and harvesting operation was also seized.

“During the routine check of the ATV, it was determined that it was reported stolen by the Auburn Police Department in 2008,” Yeaton said. Also seized was a 2005 Dodge pick-up truck. Information from this investigation subsequently led police to the seizure of approximately one pound of marijuana and one-half pound of psilocybin hallucinogenic mushrooms at a residence in Auburn.
Several charges are pending on the suspects involved.
