Update: Mt. Blue High School students return Friday

FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue High School will reopen Friday after problems with water pressure from the school’s wells was fixed today, according to David Leavitt, director of MSAD 9’s buildings and maintenance.

Staff members discovered yesterday that the school’s water pressure was extremely low, and did not believe it would meet the needs of the school’s students. As water fountains, toilets, sinks and other devices run off of the well system, a decision was made to not have the students come in for classes.

According to Leavitt this afternoon, a pipe that leads to the sewer system was broken and caused water from the school’s wells to continue running, which, in turn, severely restricted the water pressure to the school.

“It’s fixed and the wells’ have all been tested,” Leavitt said. “The school will reopen tomorrow.”
