Allan served on the MSAD 9 Board of Directors during the consolidation and building of Mt. Blue High School, the rebuilding of Wilton Academy, and the building of the Cascade Brook School. His volunteer efforts at MSAD 9 spanned from 1994-2012, where he could often be found reading to children, swimming with children at the fitness center, or broadening their educational experience in the LEGO League.

For 44 years he taught ski lessons at Titcomb Mountain ski area, encouraging new skiers and helping them perfect his graceful artistry of this sport. He was chair of the town of Farmington’s Transportation Advisory Committee, a member of the Farmington Historical Society, and served as trustee for the Farmington Public Library.

Allan was a patron of the arts and an original member of the Sandy River Players, his last performance at 79 in “Comedy and Cocktails.”

His hobbies were “volunteering,” skiing, playing tennis with dear friends, fly fishing, reading, and most importantly, following the activities and delighting in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
