Arthur F. St. Clair

LEWISTON – Arthur F. St. Clair, 87, of Auburn, formerly of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born Jan. 19, 1923 in Rockland, Maine. He was educated in the schools of Rockland and served his country in WWII in the European Theater. After Arthur’s former wife Alice passed he married Nathalie on Dec. 31, 1971 in Farmington. Arthur worked as a truck driver after coming home from the war. He then worked for several auto repair shops around the area before purchasing and operating Arthurs Garage in Industry during the 70’s and 80’s. He then went on to work at Jack’s Logging in West Farmington until retiring at the age of 82. Arthur enjoyed tinkering, building and repairing small engines, travelling with his wife in their camper, and square dancing with many good friends. He also loved doing his word search books and watching The Price Is Right.

The family wants to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Central Maine Medical Center for the excellent and compassionate care they gave Arthur and his family.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nathalie; three sons Paul St. Clair and his wife Valerie of Auburn, David St. Clair and his wife Sandy of Liberty, and William St. Clair and his wife Barbara of Liberty; stepdaughters Rebecca MacFarlane and her husband Thomas of Lake City, FL, Priscilla Williams and her husband Glen of Chattanogga, TN; a stepson David Nile and his wife Christine of Lewiston; ten grandchildren Sarah, Laurie, David Jr., Tammy, Amy, James, Matthew, Daniel, Anthony, and Trisha; and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Alice, a son Wayne, a brother Richard, and Arthur’s favorite dog Susie.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with John Tolman officiating. A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Maine Veterans Cemetery on the Mt. Vernon road in Augusta. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make donations in Arthur’s memory to The Franklin County Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Rd., Farmington, Maine 04938.
