DIXFIELD – Bettina M. (Chiaravalloti) Hebert Martin, 73, of Dixfield, died Sunday morning, Jan. 9, 2011 at her home in Dixfield of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 1, 1937, in Livermore Falls, Maine, the eldest daughter of Antonio M. and Mary C. (Lavorgna) Chiaravalloti. She graduated Valedictorian from Wilton Academy and attended Husson College. During her many varied careers, she was an administrative assistant for MSAD 21. She owned and operated Klassy Kids, a children’s boutique in Farmington and later served as Farmington town treasurer until her retirement. She was elected selectman to the Town of DIxfield and served as board chair for her last two terms.

Bettina was an astute business woman who enjoyed serving the community through local government. She was a strong supporter of the Dirigo High School sports programs. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren and proudly followed their accomplishments throughout her retirement.

As matriarch of the family she exemplified independence, self motivation, achievements through strong work ethics and family loyalty. Bettina was an opinionated politician who, although often controversial, remained true to her roots and loyal to the towns she served.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rick Marden, Dr. John Hoppersted, Dr. Nicolette Erickson and the exceptional nursing staff at Rumford Community Hospital for their unending supportive care.

She is survived by her children and their families: Anne M. Hebert, M.D. and her husband, John P. Cooke of West Kingston, RI; Deborah Stemle and her husband, Eric and their son Adam Stemle of Acworth, GA.; Richard Hebert and his companion Heidi Magons and his children: Michelle, Elizabeth, Marie, and Joseph Hebert of Dixfield; John Hebert and his wife, Sandra and their daughter Jane Hebert of Dixfield; Don Hebert and his wife, Colleen and their children: Benjamin, Margaret Anne and Maxwell Hebert of Hillsborough, NC and by her siblings: Donna Cialfi and her husband, Gary of Armonk, NY, Antoinette Lilienthal and her husband, Frank of Jonesport, and Frank Chiaravalloti and his wife, Deborah of Newburyport, MA., several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld St. , Dixfield, Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from Holy Savior Church: St. Athanasius-St. John, Rumford, with Father James Martel officiating. Following Mass, a celebration of life will be held at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandra Hebert, 40 Bruce Tibbets Drive, Dixfield. All are welcome.
