FARMINGTON – Blanche Louise Holman Parker, 89, went to join her family and friends in heaven on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, and is now playing bingo with her bingo pals Minnie Madison, Lena Taylor and Rita Porter.

She was born April 24, 1921, in the Thorton Heights section of Portland, Maine to O. Merton and L. Alice (Libby) Holman of Thorton Heights. They later moved to the Mexico/Dixfield are in 1930. She graduated from Mexico High school in the Class of 1938.

She married Aaron F. Parker of Wilton on November 23, 1940 at the Mexico Congregational Church; the Rev. Joseph Merchant officiated.

She worked in several stores in the Wilton/Farmington area, later owning Jacob’s Market with Aaron, making hundreds of Italian sandwiches and hot dogs on payday (Fridays) for the millworkers from G. H. Bass Co. and Forsters Mfg. She also worked as a short order cook in several eateries in Wilton, later retiring after 10 years as a cook at Edgewood Manor in Farmington. She was well known for her delicious muffins, pies, biscuits and rolls.

She enjoyed being a member of the Wilson Lake Rebekah Lodge No. 68 and being a Girl Scout leader of several troops. After retiring in 1993, she and Aaron traveled to several countries abroad and all but seven states in the United States.

Her family is grateful for the care she has received and thanks the doctors and nursing staff at Franklin Memorial Hospital, the CMMC (M-4 and ICU staff), Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

She was predeceased by her husband, Aaron in 1992; daughter June Gould in 1972, grandson Dale Abbott in 1998 and son-in-law Earl “Sonny” Abbott Jr. in 1996.

She is survived by a daughter Linda Abbott of Anson; two sons: James and his wife, Patti of Wilton and Merton of New Sharon; a sister, Mary Waliek of Peru; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren (with one more on the way); two step-granddaughters and two step great-grandsons, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Family and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High St., Wilton, on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 AM at the Center. Committal services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton. In lieu of flowers, remembrance gifts may be sent to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice 17 Strawberry Ave. Lewiston, Me. 04240.
