FARMINGTON – Charles H. Currier, 87, of the Fairbanks Rd., Farmington, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on Thursday May 12, 2011.

He was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Farmington, a son of George Tyler and Lucy (Shaw) Currier. He received his education in Fairbanks schools and was a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Farmington Highway Dept. after 38 years of service.

He enjoyed camping, travelling, fishing and snowmobiling and spending time with dog, Penny.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marilyn, of Farmington; children: Charli (Alice) Austin and her friend Dean “Hayshaker” Winslow of Fairfield; Eva Kennard and her husband, Gerald of Solon; Donna Vining and her husband Eddie “Skooter” of Chesterville; David Currier and his friend, Carol Gregory of Farmington; Louise Webber and her husband, Chip Webber of Jefferson; step-son: Willis Chick and his wife, Pat of Farmington; Charles Chick and his wife, Debbie of Antrim, N.H. and Roger Chick of Rumford and his goddaughter, Sandra DiStefano of Farmington; 26 grandchildren: Michaela Heald, Camellia Carrier, Nickolas Carrier, Zachary Carrier, Taylor Wilber, Kyle Wilber, Nathan Vining, Joshua Rushing, Sarah Jean Rushing, Jacob Cody, Michael Heald, Andrea Carrier, Tammy Wilber, Scott Vining, Melissa Nadeau, Mindy Cody, Jamie Lynn Currier, Jarrod Currier, Jamie Currier, Eliza Currier, Orin Jacobs, Brian Chick, Nathan Chick, Dawn Hickerson, Joseph Sullivan and Jessica Sullivan; seven great-grandchildren: Zachary Jacob, Ivy Roe Jacob, Ariel Hickerson, Curtis Hickerson, Brianna Hickerson, Isaac Guptill and Jamie Currier.

He was predeceased by a son, Donald Currier; daughter Ruth Marie; sister Isabelle Mayo; brothers: Tyler Currier and Richard Currier.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. from the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., (Rtes. 2 & 27) Farmington, with Rev. Dr. Richard Waddell officiating. Committal services at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton. Remembrance gifts may be given to the charity of one’s choice. Following services, a family reception will be held at the Fairbanks School.
