MADISON – Dana Walter Richards, 55, passed away Sept. 26, 2014 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. He was born Jan. 26, 1959 in Skowhegan, the son of Joseph F. and Frances H. (Gould) Richards, Sr.

He was the sixth of their seven children. He graduated from Madison High School in 1977 and for many years worked at Wood Tek, Solon Manufacturing, and North Anson Reel.

Throughout his life he truly loved his children and grandchildren and made their holidays extra special, attending family functions at the Old Homestead and baking cookies with his grandchildren for the family’s annual Christmas cookie swap were some of his favorite times.

He is survived by three children, daughter, Samantha Burns and husband Keith, daughter, Marie Richards Fenning and husband Blair, and son, Neal D. Richards; 2 very special grandchildren, William and Braetek Burns; mother, Frances Richards; siblings, Helen Taylor, Neal Richards and wife Joline, Lucy Gray of Madison, David Richards and wife Valerie of East Madison, and Joseph Richards and wife Susan of Winslow; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 Saint Sebastian Cemetery, Madison, ME 04950.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Dana’s memory to the Dana W. Richards Memorial Fund, c/o Samantha Burns, PO Box 185, Anson, Maine 04911.
