Elinor B. Chadbourne (1943-2009)

SALEM TOWNSHIP – Elinor B. Chadbourne, 66 of Salem Township died Sunday, August 16, 2009 shortly after arriving at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

She was born May 16, 1943 in Farmington, the daughter of Philip and Ruth (McCaughlin) Bunnell. She was educated in the schools of Strong and graduated from Strong High School class of 1961. She married Ardell Chadbourne January 17, 1964. He died October 6, 1997. In her younger years she worked as a Life Guard and a bank teller, then worked for Forster Manufacturing Co. From 1965 until they closed in of June 2003. Elinor along with her husband owned and operated Dellies General Store in Salem for 10 years.

Elinor loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed the days with the girls, spending time outdoors, camping and hiking.

She is survived by her two daughters, Crystal Newell and her husband, Charles of Salem; Rhonda Coffren and her husband, Peter of Salem; two brothers Karl Bunnell and his wife, Dianna of Madrid and Kenneth Bunnell of Kingfield; sister-in-law, Eleanor Dexter; two brothers-in-law, Clinton Chadbourne and his wife, Sandy of New Hampshire and Carlton Chadbourne of New Hampshire; grandchildren, David Coffren of Salem, Ben Newell and his fiancée Cassie White of Salem, Sierra St. Pierre and her husband Eric of Gorham, Philip Coffren of Salem and Lucas Newell of Salem; great grandchildren, Dominic Coffren of Auburn, Corey Gelindo of Belgrade, Elijah Coffren of Salem, Eric St. Pierre, Jr. of Gorham and Edward St. Pierre of Gorham and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sister-in-law, Leona Donahue and brothers-in-law Joe Donahue and Edward Dexter and nephew Randy Bunnell.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Starbird Corner Cemetery on the Baker Hill Road, with Rev. Sue Kaplin Burgess officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at the home of Crystal Newell, Salem Road, Salem. Friends wishing may make donations in Elinor’
