BANGOR – Elinor Christine (Thompson) Bearor, 87, formerly of Jay, passed away on, Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Westgate Manor in Bangor, with her family by her side after a long struggle with dementia.

She was born in Madison on April 29, 1923, the daughter of Herbert Allen Thompson and Nellie (Dunlop) Thompson. She attended Madison schools and graduated from Madison High School in the class of 1941.

On October 23, 1943 she was married to Edmond Bearor in Madison. He passed away in 1981. They made their home in Madison until 1950 when they moved to North Jay, where they raised their family. Elinor worked for many years as a payroll clerk for Norwock Shoe Company and retired from GH Bass Shoe in 1983.

She always took great pride in her children and grandchildren and was supportive of all their endeavors. She will be remembered for her loving and caring nature.

She is survived by her children, Sheila Bearor of Augusta, Sylvia Desjardins and her husband, Dennis of North Turner and Edmond Bearor and his wife, Jane Skelton of Bangor; her grandchildren, Michael Desjardins and his wife, Melanie of Portland, Rachel Madison and her husband, Marco of North Turner, Joseph Bearor of Portland, Margaret Bearor of Toronto and Thomas Bearor of Bangor; four great grandchildren, Nathan and Samantha Desjardins and Zachary and Mayla Madison; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Betty Thompson.

Graveside services will be held, 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010 at the St. Sebastian Cemetery in Madison. Gifts may be given in Elinor’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 170 US Rte. 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105. Arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd., Rte. 133, Jay.
