AUBURN – Ellen Caudle Grant, 61, of New Sharon, died early Friday evening, Sept. 18, 2009 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.
She was born on March 1, 1948 in Albemarle, N.C., the daughter of James Richard and Vera Grey (Strickland) Hibberd.
Ellen had worked in the Town of New Sharon as the town clerk and tax collector. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Quilters Guild. She loved to sew and quilt and will be remembered for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
She is survived by her father, James Caudle of Meriden, CT; her husband, Steve of New Sharon; daughters, Shelly Carpenter and her fiancé, Steven Sanetrik of Flynt, Michigan, her children, Brandon, Reiley and Gavin, Jessica Griswold of Wilton and her daughter, Shannon; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Griswold of Farmington and her daughter, Maya; step-children, Jason Grant of Gray and Shawn Lister and his wife, Melissa of Bridgeport, CT; siblings, Jan Caudle of New Haven, CT, Michael Caudle of Boothbay Harbor, Daphne Kilbourn of Putney, VT, Richard Caudle and his wife, Sharyn of Rocky Hill, CT, David Caudle and his wife, Vreni of Kensington, CT and Millie Rosenblatt and her husband, Bernie of Clinton, CT; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Brett on Apr. 17, 2008 and her mother, Vera Hibberd in December of 2001.
A celebration of her life will be held, 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 in the Banquet Room of the Granary Restaurant, Front St., Farmington. Family and friends are invited to call 4-6PM, Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 at the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service and Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington.
