Franklin Llewelyn Gilbert Jr. (1941 – 2010)

LEWISTON – Franklin Llewelyn Gilbert Jr., 68, of Farmington passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born in Farmington May 8, 1941 a son of Franklin L. and Inez C. (Bartlett) Gilbert Sr. He was educated in the schools of New Sharon. Frank married Myrna Parish who passed away in 1997. As a young man he worked with his father on the family farm and then for Robert McCleery on his farm. He also worked on a potato farm in Vermont in the late 1960s and 1970s before moving back to Maine.

Frank was a member of the Mystic Valley Grange 313 East Dixfield. He loved going to fairs and working on demolition derby cars with his grandson Jeffrey and nephew Michael. He was an avid wrestling fan and he also liked volunteering to mow to pass the time.

Frank is survived by his daughter Olive Gilbert Brayall and her husband Henry of Lewiston; two step sons David and Allen Emerson; three step daughters Lisa, Susan, and Sara Emerson; three grandchildren Jeffrey, Beatrice, Sandi, Kandy, and Jamie; eleven step grandchildren; two great grandchildren Alexis and Savannah; a sister Ethel Henderson; four brothers Bernard, David and his wife Gertrude, Lloyd, and Paul and his wife Maxine Gilbert; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Myrna, two brothers Raymond and Joseph, and two sisters Olive and Wilma.

A graveside service will be held later in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton, a reception will follow at the Grange Hall in East Dixfield.
