George M “Ziggy” Forman (1931-2009)

George M “Ziggy” Forman, 78, of Industry and formerly of Mullica Twp., NJ passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.

George was born and was a lifelong resident of Mullica Twp., NJ prior to moving to Industry in 1994. After graduating from Hammonton High School he served in the Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from the service he played semi-pro baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. He then went and worked with his father developing Forman’s Garage-Forman’s Harley Davidson Motorcycle Dealership and Forman’s Bus Company in Elwood, NJ.

He enjoyed hunting in the woods of Maine and attending car shows with his good friend John Worth. He was member of M.B. Taylor Lodge 141, Hammonton, NJ; Northern Lites Snowmobile Club in Maine, DownEast Street Rods, Country Classics Car Club, Antique Automobile Club of America, Maine Region AACA, The National Corvette Restorers Society, New England Chapter and the Solid Axle Corvette Club. He achieved the NCRS Duntov Award, an AACA First Senior Award, Bloomington Gold, A Vettefest Gold Spinner and Triple Crown Award as well as the prestigious AACA Louis Chevrolet Memorial Award for his 1954 Corvette.

George was predeceased by his parents, Mary and George P Forman, and his daughter Debbi Johns. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his sons Glen (Janet) of Sweetwater, NJ, George Jr. (Linda) of Enoree, SC, Kirk of Maryland, Scott of Sewell, NJ, and stepchildren Lisa (Michael) Jiampetti of Egg Harbor City, NJ and Jason (Kristy) Guerrera of Vineland, NJ. He has thirteen grandchildren, Dianna (Brian) Hess of TN, George III, Jeremy, and Michael of NJ, Christopher and Brett of SC, Tracy (Mark) Santoro, Cherie (Michael) Pullia, Ryan, Michael, Matthew, Jason and Jadon of NJ, and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at the Fairbanks Meetinghouse from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams~McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court St., Farmington.
