Gerald “Jerry” R. Hammond (1941-2009)

FARMINGTON – Gerald “Jerry” R. Hammond, 67, of Wilton, died early Saturday afternoon at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

He was born in Farmington, Dec. 6, 1941, a son of Randall and Frances (Barrett) Hammond and received his education in Wilton schools and was a graduate of Wilton Academy. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Vietnam Era from 1963 –1967. On June 22, 1969, he married Mary Salisbury.

Jerry was employed for many years at Brookside Filling Station in Wilton and later at Farmington Oil Co./Webber Energy as an oil delivery driver. He also owned and operated Jerry’s Tire in Wilton.

He was a member of the Wilton Lions Club, the Farmington Elks Club, and the Wilton Masonic Lodge #156. He enjoyed reading, camping and working at pulling events at Farmington and Fryeburg Fairs.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary of Wilton; a sister, Anne Kezal and her husband Mike of Turner; two nephews, Kevin Kezal of Saco and Mark Kezal of Sebago.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High Street, Wilton. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the center on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Private interment at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton.
