Kenneth B. Lake, 88, former resident of Wilton, died May 27, 2011 at Pinewood Terrace, Farmington, where he had been residing since June 2008. Born May 29, 1922 in East Wilton, the first of six children of Bernal and Helen (Bryant) Lake.

Ken married Janice “Niecy” Brann March 31, 1944 and they resided in East Wilton, raising three children. He delivered heating oil and she was bookkeeper for Community Oil Company for 12 years. As a second job he worked his farm tractor plowing snow, plowing gardens, and mowing many of the fields in the area. They owned and operated Wilton Dairy Products and later, Lake’s Ice Cream. Niecy died October 1981.

He drove a tanker truck for Farmington Oil Company until retiring at age 62, but continued driving a trailer truck for Bass Shoe.

Ken enjoyed good times with family and friends both in Maine and Florida, where he and his companion, Grace Rodzen, resided during the winter.

He is survived by Grace, Pinewood Terrace Farmington, daughter Cathy Gibbs of Livermore, brother Elmer Lake, his wife Louise, Sister Maxine Bailey, all of Livermore Falls, a sister-in-law Carolyn Lake of Livermore.

He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Scott and Sherry Lake of Florida, Jeremy Welch of North Carolina, Jason and Darci Gibbs of Livermore, three great-grandchildren Alison, Madison and Jamison Lake of Florida.

Predeceased by his parents, wife Niecy, son Eric Lake, daughter Jolene Adams, brother Norman Clifford “Skip” Lake, sisters Manola Bubier and Phyllis Dolloff.

A time of memorial visitation with refreshments will be held, 5-7PM, Wed., June 1, 2011 at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd., Rte. 133, Jay. Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton.
