Lewis Stanley Parlin (1927-2009)

CANTON – Lewis Stanley Parlin, 82, of East Wilton, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday morning, May 23, at the Victorian Villa Nursing Home in Canton.

He was born April 2, 1927, a son of Lillian Fletcher Parlin Decker and Erwin Parlin and received his education in local schools before joining the United States Navy having served in Guam and Pearl Harbor.

After his discharge from the service, Mr. Parlin met S. Frances Lothrop and they were married on May 11, 1946. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before her death in Jan. of 2008. Lewis worked at the Wilton Woolen Mill, Brookside Filling Station, and later at International Paper Company. Lew and Fran enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and especially their grandchildren. He was a member of Wilton Masonic Lodge 156.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda Taylor and her husband Dennis of Wilton, a son Peter Parlin and his wife Kathleen of Vassalboro, and a daughter, Loanne Mosher and her husband Reed of Vicksburg, Mississippi; grandchildren, Scott Taylor and his wife Jennifer, Mike Taylor and his wife Jennifer, Travis Taylor and his wife Tara, Daya Taylor, Asha Taylor, Sarah Parlin, Gregory Parlin, and Mark Mosher; great grandchildren, Lewis Taylor, Alyson Taylor, Nicole Taylor, Madison Taylor, Dennis Jon Taylor, and Lilah Taylor; sisters, Kathryn Horn, Marilyn Larabee, Beverly Stevens, and Patricia Thomas; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Bev and Joe; along with many other friends; He was predeceased by his wife, Frances; and brothers, Keith and Harlan;

Lewis’ family would like to thank the staff at Victorian Villa for their love, encouragement, and patience and a special thanks to his niece, Anna.

Memorial services will be held in July with the time and date to be announced at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High Street, Wilton. Interment will follow services at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton. The family asks that those who desire make memorial contributions in Lew’s memory to the Diabetes Education Unit at Franklin Memorial Hospital, 111 Franklin Helath Commons, Farmington, ME 04938.
