WINSLOW – Lorraine Alice Clement, “Mim” passed away peacefully June 30, 2015 at her home in Winslow. She was 61.

Born Oct. 20, 1953 in Waterville, Lorraine was raised by her loving parents, Merle and Myrtle Clement, of Rome.

She was a graduate of Messalonskee High School and later became a certified medical records coder. For 30 years she proudly worked in Medical Information at the former Mid-Maine Medical Center, now MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Waterville. Lorraine was most recently employed as a medical records coder at Togus Veterans Administration Hospital in Chelsea.

Lorraine was married to John Holt for seven years, and they remained lifelong friends to jointly raise their daughter, Amanda Kim (Holt) Labrie and later support her husband, David Labrie and their two daughters, Jordyn and Mackenzy, of Winslow. Her grandchildren, who affectionately call her “Mim,” were the greatest of joys in her life. She had “Mims Thursday night sleepovers” every week at her house since they were born, even in her last weeks in the nursing home, and joyfully took the girls on many “Princess Weekends” to spend special time with her granddaughters. She proudly supported their athletic teams, purchasing sweatshirts and special gifts for their teammates. As their biggest fans, she attended all of their sporting events, and is well known in the Winslow community for ringing her cowbell at outdoor games. Lorraine was everyone’s “Mim” and she continues to cheer them all on from the best seat in the house.

Lorraine enjoyed the last 10 years of her life with her partner and trusted friend, Patrick Lee, of Winslow. Her family is forever grateful for the love and care he gave her each and every day, until her last.

She is predeceased by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Doris Clement, and is happily reunited with her beloved cat “Miss Priss.”

Lorraine is survived by her daughter and best friend, Amanda Labrie; her son-in-law whom she adored, David Labrie; and her loving granddaughters “Pumpkinseed” Jordyn and “Babydoll” Mackenzy, all of Winslow; her siblings Christine Bickford and husband Larry of Belgrade; Phillip Clement and wife Patricia, Lois Davis and husband Roger and Wayne Clement and wife Tina, all from Rome; and Wendy Clement, of Winslow, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the angels of MaineGeneral Homecare and Hospice, Dawn, Danylle, Onneke and Tammy, who provided genuine love and compassion to Mim, and supported the family through this difficult journey. They also want to thank Dr. Polkinghorn, Nurse Gari and the excellent healthcare team at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care and the many caretakers during her illness. And to Lorraine’s “other daughter” Laura Doughty, whom she nicknamed Mia, your kindness and love will never be forgotten.

Mim lived for today. She never wanted to plan for the future. She often said, “You never know about tomorrow.” But more recently her favorite words, whispered to Amanda, were “my life is in God’s hands.” There is a special place in Heaven for Mims.

A Celebration of Lorraine Clement’s life will be held Wednesday, July 8 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. (service at 7 p.m.), at the Winslow VFW, 175 Veteran Drive, Winslow. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care or MaineGeneral Homecare and Hospice, MaineGeneral Medical Center, Office of Philanthropy, PO Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903.
