Lula E. Allen (1925-2010)

FARMINGTON – Lula E. Allen, 84, of North Jay, passed away early Monday morning March 29, 2010 at Sandy River Center for Health Care in Farmington.

She was born June 21, 1925, in Wilton, the daughter of Linwood M. and Bertha (Maxim) Dill. She attended schools in Jay and on June 21, 1969, she married Hamblin Allen in North Jay. Lula worked at the Wilton Woolen Co. as a young woman and then for G.H. Bass Co., Norwalk Shoe, and Farmington Shoe. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, her seniors bowling league, and was an active member of the East Wilton Union Church. She also loved her cat Kia.

Lula is survived by her husband Hamblin; her son John R. Ranger Jr. and his wife Kendalyn of North Jay; her step-daughter Paula Bradley of North Carolina; seven grandchildren John III, Elijah, Shiloh, Katie, Abby, Yates, and Carey; seven great grandchildren; two sisters Mildred Coolidge of East Dixfield and Violet DeRenzo of Jay; two half brothers Mark and Randy Dill; a half sister Beverly Lawton; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a half sister Linda Rotceren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the East Wilton Union Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Park officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the Jay Village Cemetery in Jay. Those wishing may make donations in Lula’s memory to The East Wilton Union Church, P.O Box 224, East Wilton, Maine 04234.
