Robert “Bob” Letarte (1935-2008)

NEW SHARON – Robert “Bob” Letarte, 73, formerly of Phillips and Wilton, died early Saturday evening at the home of his son and daughter-in-law in New Sharon surrounded by his family.

He was born in Berlin, NH, Oct. 22, 1935 a son of Joseph and Rosie (Blanchard) Letarte and received his education in Berlin schools. In 973 he married Collette Cyr. She died Oct. 2, 2001. Mr. Letarte worked as a crane operator for SW and B at various mills around the area. He enjoyed playing cribbage, traveling, and taking long rides as long as he didn’t have to do the driving. He will be remembered for his love of scratch tickets.

He is survived by his children, Steven Letarte and his wife Melissa of New Sharon, Corina and her companion J.C. Fish of Dixfield, Louise McClain of Greenwood, and Debbie of NH; his grandchildren, Mike, Steven, and Megan Letarte all of New Sharon; Nathan, Cheyenne, and Owen Fish all of Dixfield, and Mercedes of Greenwood; his companion, Tammie Tripp and her children, Cordel and Jasmine, all of Phillips; two sisters, Julie and Theresa; and a brother, Larry Letarte of Berlin, NH.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Middle Street, Farmington, followed by a gathering at the Parish Hall. The family suggests that donations be made to the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, c/o Don Richard, 719 Farmington Falls Road, New Sharon, ME 04955.
