Robert Henry Barry (1921-2008)

SOUTH PARIS – Robert Henry Barry, 87, of Farmington died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at the South Paris Maine Veterans Home.

He was born on May 7, 1921 in Norway, Maine, the son of Howard and Josephine (Foster) Barry. He attended the Oxford Hills schools. He married Bernice Hanmer in 1955. Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII serving in Germany. On coming home, he went to work as a truck driver and worked for many different companies including long distance trucking, driving an oil truck, and even driving a school bus.

He enjoyed playing cards with Conley and Kentucky Gould, fishing, hunting, camping, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his daughter Pamela Abbott and her companion Charles of Farmington; two sons Howard Barry and his wife Karen of Farmington, and Robert Arsenault and his wife Bonnie of Milford, Maine; eight grandchildren Chad, Amanda, Breama, Eric, Devin, Dakota, Jennifer, and Daniel; and one great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his wife in 2003 and his son Denis in 1988.

At the family’s request there will be no services. Those wishing may make donations in Robert’s memory to the Maine Veterans Home, 477 High St., South Paris, Maine 04281. Arrangements under the direction of Adams~McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court St., Farmington.
