Roger W. Plante (1940-2010)

FARMINGTON – Roger W. Plante, 69, of Jay, died unexpectedly, Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010 at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

He was born on Mar. 24, 1940 in Chisholm, the son of Emile and Rachel (Soucy) Plante. He was educated in Jay schools.

Roger married Janice Moreau at the St. Rose of Lima church in Jay. They made their home in Jay while he worked and later retired from International Paper.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1963-’65. He was a member of the AMVETS in Jay and PACE Local #114 in Jay, where he liked to go play cards and visit with everyone. At home, Roger enjoyed watching the History, Discovery and Sci-Fi channels.

He is survived by his wife, Janice of Jay; nieces and nephews; several brothers and sisters-in-law; dear friend, Tony Wilder of Jay; his “son” a cat, Bideau. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Bert Plante.

Funeral services with military honors will be held 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at the Maine Veterans Cemetery Mt. Vernon Rd. Annex, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta. Gifts may be given in Roger’s memory to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd., Jay.
