Ronald S. Sawyer (1968-2010)

FARMINGTON – Ronald S. Sawyer, 41, of New Sharon passed away peacefully on Jan. 21, 2010 at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington after a year long battle with a brain tumor.

Ron was born May 31, 1968 in Waterville, the son of Maurice (Jack) and Shirley (Butterfield) Sawyer. He attended New Sharon Elementary School and graduated from Mt. Blue High School in 1986. He served four years in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Color Guard.

After being discharged from he Air Force he worked for Sawyer’s Sheet Metal. He spent one winter working on the Trans Alaska Pipeline at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Ron worked several years in the HVAC trade in Mesa, Arizona and was employed by Aero Heating and Ventilation in Portland prior to his illness.

He enjoyed his membership in the Western Maine Blacksmith Association, was an avid reader, and had an interest in astronomy.

Ron was devoted to his family in Tarlac City, Philippines, which includes his wife Eden and daughters Veronica, Angelica, and Joanna and a grandson Ronnie. He visited them whenever possible. He is also survived by his parents of New Sharon; brothers Michael of New Sharon, Jason and Nicole of Chesterville, and Nathan and his wife Jillian of Windham; his niece Marissa; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Our special thanks to Dr. Sanden, Dr. Hertler, Franklin Memorial Hospital and its excellent Oncology, Physical, and Occupational Therapy Departments, Androscoggin Home Health, the entire staff at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center, and Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care Ron received.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. Ron liked bright colors, therefore, casual, colorful attire is suggested. There will be a time to share a memory during the service.
