Russell Regan Mathers II (1952-2011)

AUBURN – Russell Regan Mathers II, 58, died Jan. 7, 2011 at the Hospice House in Auburn where he had been a patient since Jan. 3, 2011 following a long illness.

He was born May 27, 1952 in Butler, Pennsylvania, the son of Russell and Dorothea Herrmann Mathers. He was educated in the schools of Hopewell Junction, New York, and served in the US Army. He was employed in his early years at the International Paper Co in Jay, and for the past 24 years he was employed for the town of Wilton where he was superintendent of the wastewater and water departments until his death.

He married Jodi Spencer on April 20, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He enjoyed playing his guitar and being in rock and roll bands. Russell was very active in karate where he held a second degree black belt. He enjoyed spending time with his family and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife Jodi of Carthage; one son, Regan of Carthage; one daughter, Emmah of Arkansas; one stepson, Logan Cook of Carthage; his mother, Dorothea Sauter of Richmond, Virginia; and one sister, Heidi Sauter Barshinger of Richmond, Virginia. He was predeceased by a daughter, Evaleen.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Donations my be made to the Hospice House, Androscoggin Care and Hospice, 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, ME 04210. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Dan and Scott’s Cremation and Funeral Services, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan, ME.
