WILTON – Thomas J. Whalen of 183 Lake Road, Wilton, formerly of Scituate, Mass., passed away surrounded by his family on August 20, 2010, at the age of 90.

Loving husband of 66 years to Dorothy (Downey), Tom was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. A self-made man, Tom worked at Boston Edison and retired at 70 as construction inspector. He was a Grand Knight of Scituate K of C (#3716). Tom enjoyed boating and spent many a sunset sailing the harbor.

Devoted father of Thomas J. and his wife H. Susan Atwood of Wilton, ME, Robert and his wife Donna of Lunenburg, MA and Michele Woodruff and her husband Dr. William Woodruff of Coopersburg, PA. Brother of William of Schenectady, NY, Francis of Brewster, NY and the late John, Ruth Handverger, Mary Duhamel, Rita White and Lillian Bison. Also survived by 6 grandchildren (his greatest joy), many nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, Aug. 25 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate, Thursday, August, 26 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent St., Scituate, MA.
