Wanda R. Farrington-Buzzell (1954-2008)

DRYDEN – Wanda R. Farrington-Buzzell, 53, of Dryden died at her home Sunday surrounded by her loving husband and family. She had courageously fought a long battle with pancreatic cancer with an unwavering determination to fight it to the end.

She was born in Farmington on Nov. 19, 1954 the daughter of Thayden and Nora (Harris) Farrington. After living with Wayne Buzzell, her best friend and partner for eighteen years, they were married on August 16, 2007. She was a 1973 graduate of Mt. Blue High School and a 1993 graduate of Kennebec Valley Technical College. She worked as a pre-punch hand sewer for G.H. Bass & Co. and then as an office manager for Tri – County Mental Health, and most recently at Verso Paper in Jay.

She enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up on her parents farm, learning care for animals and developing an appreciation for nature and the out of doors. She was very active as a young girl in the 4-H Dairy Club and also won many ribbons for showing her sheep and heifer steers at the fairs around the state. Later on she loved to plant flowers and decorate her home.

She especially loved the Christmas season and enjoyed decorating and cooking for everyone. Many happy memories are recalled of camping, fishing and boating with her family and grandson who was so precious to her. She also was a great deer hunter and almost always bagged a deer on her parent’s farm.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband Wayne Buzzell of Dryden, a daughter Jennifer Gordon of Jay, step-sons Corey and Jared Buzzell of Lewiston, two grandchildren, Dylan Gordon and Kellsie Buzzell, a brother Thayden C. Farrington of Industry, nieces Jesse Mallett, Sarah Nicholas and Carrie Farrington-Ortiz, Mother-in-law Barbara Buzzell of Dixfield, Sisters-in-law Julie and husband Clint Hall and family of Dixfield, and Joyce and husband Robert Pfoh of Sebago, and a grand-niece and nephews. Wanda will be greatly missed by all who loved her most.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have helped care for Wanda including Androscoggin Hospice Nurses, Dr. Devon Evans and the nursing staff at the Scarborough Cancer Center, and especially the dear neighbors and friends, Marie, Sue, and Darlene our “Angels.” God bless you all.

Visitation will be from noon – 1 p .m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Adams – McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Service 108 Court St. Farmington, with the memorial service to immediately follow at 1 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice 284 Main St. Suite 290 Wilton, ME 04294
