Letter to the Editor: Harvell will stick to the priorities

2 mins read

Congratulations to Lance Harvell on being selected by his party to run for the open House District 89 seat and for his recent endorsement by the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine.

But Lance is much more than just an outdoorsman; he is a conscientious member of this community who truly cares about his fellow citizens. He grew up in this area and has lived and worked here since returning from the military. This gives a solid perspective into the daily trials of those of us who live and work in western Maine.

Many politicians cite priorities as a must but upon arriving at their legislative offices seem to loose track of them. I have talked to Lance many times and know he realizes the importance of sticking to the priorities and who I am sure will legislate based on them. Additionally, I believe you would be hard pressed to find someone so informed on the issues. A recent letter in support of Mr. Haszko indicated it is not about the size of government I would argue that it is indeed about the size and expense of government. Lance understands that an $800 million plus budget shortfall is of great consequence.

I contend that much of that figure comes from a lack of priorities and simple failure to be prudent with taxpayers’ money. I am looking for a legislator who will tackle the tough issues, and not blow with the prevailing wind. Someone who I know has the skill set and life experience to go to Augusta and represent all Mainers. Lance Harvell is that person who will work hard for working Maine.
