Letter to the Editor: Thanks District 18 voters

2 mins read

I wanted to thank voters in District 18 for their support and all they have shared with me during past campaign. Many of you invited me in to your homes to talk. Others invited me to events and meals. Many of you volunteered with me at community events.

I’m humbled by the support I received from many of you.

I knocked on thousands of doors this past year in every neighborhood in our Senate district. People were genuine in sharing what they hope our lawmakers will work on if elected. Many are looking for leaders they
can rely on to take action on issues they care about. Most important, and this came up often, is the hope our elected officials will work together on behalf our families and for the good of Maine.

Preserving jobs and bringing new jobs to the area are your priority. Health care remains a major concern, as does the need to adequately fund education to help reduce property taxes and create opportunity. Support for small businesses, the need to reform state government, financial security in retirement and help for those having difficulty making ends meet, are issues topping the list of concerns. The list goes on, but again, nearly everyone I talked with say they want leaders who are sincere in their willingness to work together to address these issues.

I thank all the candidates for running. I ask those who succeeded to continue listening to people in your communities. Hear what they have to say and do what you can to reach out to other lawmakers and work
cooperatively together on matters which effect our future.
