JAY – Wilton Fish and Game Assoc. members are busy preparing for the first annual fishing day on the Androscoggin River on Saturday, June 29.

“What a wonderful opportunity for families to get to experience the local river,” President Phil Maurais said.

The event will take place between the two dams. Registration of $5 per youth (15 yrs. and under) will begin between 6-7AM at the boat launch by the Mill Street Café. (1 Mill St. in Jay), event will conclude at 3:30 PM. Funds earned from this event will be used for further youth programs. This boat launch is for carry in boats such as canoes, kayaks, and small aluminum boats. Please remember your life jackets.
Prizes will be awarded for youth 15 yrs and under with the heaviest fish. First place will pay $100, second place will pay $75 and third place will pay $50.

Members of the fish and game club will be on the river to assist the youth with weighing of their catch. If local residents would like to have a tour of the event there will be opportunities available for a ride on the river. Please check in at the registration site.

Mill Street Café will be offering a light lunch for the fishing derby participants. The Wilton Fish & Game Assoc. members are looking forward to the opportunity to offer a fun day to the area residents.
