RANGELEY – Julia Morin of Broad Brook, CT, is the 2023 Maine Conservation Corps Environmental Steward with the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust.

While serving with RLHT, Morin will coordinate the Headwaters Lake Protection Program, which oversees the water quality health in the Rangeley Lakes region. Morin is a certified Water Quality Monitor, LakeSmart Evaluator, and Courtesy Boat Inspector and will be an Invasive Plant Patroller.

Morin graduated from the University of Connecticut (go Huskies!) this spring, majoring in Natural Resources with a concentration in Fish and Wildlife Conservation and minoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She hopes to make a career in conservation as a Wildlife Ecologist.

While in college, Morin studied abroad in South Africa, researching birds in Kruger National Park. She volunteered to teach stem education to children and mentored women at UConn. Morin gained experience at Connecticut parks doing nature-based education for kids. In 2022, she interned with a nonprofit on Nantucket, caring for fish, reptiles, and amphibians.

When not serving, Moring plans to see all the wildlife in Rangeley, explore the area, and see other parts of Maine.

RLHT has hosted an MCC ES since 2020.
