MDIFW gets new website

AUGUSTA – The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is hoping that visitors to the Department’s web site have noticed the major changes and enhancements aimed at offering a better experience for all users.

The updated site has a sleek new homepage that displays quick links to many popular topics such as licenses, laws and rules, safety courses, hunting season dates, the Maine Fishing Guide and the Maine Wildlife Park while new section jump pages allow users to get the information they want more quickly and easily

Subjects like latest news, public meetings, seasonal bulletin and important links are organized in sections so they are also easy to find on the homepage.

The updated site is mobile friendly using the Maine.gov liquid template, which was a priority because approximately 20 percent of all IFW web site traffic hits are from a mobile device. This will make it much easier for our users when they are outside hunting or fishing and want to look up rules, maps or any other IFW information.

Another exciting new feature of the enhanced site is that Wildlife Management District (WMD) maps are now directional aids that use Google Mapping, making it possible to zoom in on a specific area and know exactly where the boundary lines are for any WMD.

The new web site was completed by the Information Resource of Maine, which handles web site redesigns for many state agencies using the Maine.gov template.
